Saudi FoodTech congratulates Techrar, the Jeddah-based subscription management platform, on successfully raising $1.6 million in a funding round led by Wa’ed Ventures, the venture capital arm of Saudi Aramco. The connection that sparked this investment was made during a Saudi FoodTech event, underscoring how ecosystem-building platforms can translate directly into startup growth and impact.
Founded in 2022 by Ahmed Salama, Techrar provides a SaaS subscription management platform that helps businesses — especially subscription-based meal services and restaurants — build and run recurring billing models with ease. To date, companies using Techrar’s platform have facilitated over $40 million in gross merchandise value (GMV) across sectors including meal subscriptions, gyms, consulting services, and salons.
Looking ahead, Techrar aims to become the region’s leading infrastructure for subscription-based businesses, enabling companies across sectors to build long-term relationships with their customers. The company plans to expand into Gulf and MENA markets, strengthen integrations with payment gateways and e-commerce platforms, and deliver deeper AI-powered tools to optimize customer experience and retention. The goal is to make retaining customers as effortless as acquiring them.
With this new funding, Techrar will grow its team, enhance its AI and automation capabilities, and accelerate its regional expansion, continuing to shape the future of digital subscriptions in Saudi Arabia and beyond.
